Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure that enhances the size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts using implants or fat transfer. It’s one of the most popular cosmetic procedures and is chosen by women who want to increase breast volume, restore fullness after pregnancy or weight loss, or correct asymmetry. Breast augmentation is highly customizable and tailored to each patient’s unique body and aesthetic goals.

How is Breast Augmentation performed?

The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1 to 2 hours. The surgeon begins by making small, discreet incisions—commonly placed in the breast crease (inframammary), around the areola (periareolar), or in the armpit (transaxillary).

A pocket is then created either beneath the chest muscle (submuscular) or above it (subglandular), and the selected implants—saline or silicone—are inserted and carefully positioned. The incisions are closed with sutures, and the breasts are wrapped with a supportive surgical bra to aid in healing.

Post Breast Augmentation Care

Most patients can return to non-strenuous activities within a few days and resume light exercise after 2 weeks. Full recovery and final results may take several weeks as swelling subsides and the implants settle.

Wear a surgical or support bra as instructed – This helps minimize swelling and supports your breasts as they heal.

Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least 4–6 weeks – This protects the incision sites and allows for proper healing.

Sleep on your back and keep your upper body elevated – This reduces pressure and promotes faster recovery.
